Law enforcing agencies nab Cannabis worth over Rs. 26 million
April 19, 2021During a special joint operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) and Mannar Police, three suspects were nabbed with 89 kilos of Kerala cannabis at the Muddalampiddi in Mulankavil yesterday (Apr 18).
The haul of cannabis was found in five gunny sacks while searching a suspicious truck at Sippiaru Bridge.
According to the SLN, the street value of the seized items is over Rs. 26 million.
Suspects held during the operation are residents of Vavuniya and Nanattan, from 26 to 44 years of age.
Those involved in the racket along with illegal substances and the vehicle were handed over to the Mannar Police for onward legal proceedings.
