Sri Lankan contingent for UN mission leaves for South Sudan
July 03, 2019A contingent of 61 Sri Lanka Army personnel including 11 Officers left for South Sudan to serve in the SRIMED Level 2 Hospital in Bor, South Sudan under the Phase 6 of the UN Mission of South Sudan (UNMISS), this morning (03 July 2019). According to Army media, the new contingent will replace the 62-member contingent under the Phase 5 who are to return home today upon the successful completion of their tenure in South Sudan.
The Sri Lanka Army, established the SRIMED Level 2 Hospital in Bor, South Sudan several years ago under the UN Mission. It is equipped with necessary components for secondary care medical services, including an operating theatre, labour room, intensive care unit, emergency department, out-patient department, dental surgery, dental workshop, pharmacy, medical store, radiology department, clinical laboratory, ECG room, sterilizing department, bio medical engineering section, medical waste disposal section, freezer mortuary, isolation ward, laundry unit, an aero-medical evacuation facility with ambulatory resuscitation and ventilation capabilities.
