Greetings to SLA contingent leaving for UN mission
April 21, 2021The newest contingent of 243 professionally-trained Sri Lanka Army (SLA) personnel in the Combat Convoy Company (CCC), set for the United Nations (UN) Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), received warm wishes prior to their departure at the Bandaranaike International Airport today (21).
The departing CCC includes the Gajaba Regiment (GR), Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC), Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC), Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE), Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC), Corps of Engineer Services (CES), Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR), Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC), Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME), Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP), Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) and Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC), the SLA said.
Further, a group of 31 SLA personnel belonging to the same CCC is expected to leave after a few days due to logistic requirements.
Meantime, 240 members of the CCC troops (Phase II) already serving Mali, having completed their peacekeeping roles, will return home soon under two phases, the SLA also said.
The Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva and Senior SLA Officials were also present at the occasion.
