More ICCs to Northern parts
May 15, 2021Sri Lanka Army troops of the Security Force Headquarters (SFHQ) - Jaffna converted Vaddakkodai Technical College building to serve as an Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) enabling it to accommodate 200 patients in the event of any emergency.
A medical staff from the Base Hospital at Manthikai, Point Pedro will be available at the ICC.
SFHQs islandwide are busy expanding facilities for COVID-19 affected citizens on the directions of the Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID - 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), the Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva.
Accordingly, SFHQ - Wanni converted five places to serve as ICC at the Vavuniya Economic Centre, Turkey City Private School at Mannar, Wahamalugollewa Centre, Galkiriyagama Civil Security Department (CSD) HQ and the Mihinthale Nithiyagama CSD HQ with a total of 820 beds to face any emergency.
These five ICCs located in North Central Province and Northern Province were prepared with the cooperation of the District Secretary and the Regional Director of Health Services in Anuradhapura and Vavuniya Districts.
