Army disinfects public places in Jaffna Achchuvely Area
May 18, 2021Sri Lanka Army (SLA) recently disinfected the public places in Achchuvely in a bid to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus.
Accordingly, 11 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 521 Brigade troops cleaned and disinfected the Bus Stand, Market Places, Banking Complexes, Shops, Three-wheeler parks and the general crowded areas, the SLA said.
Meanwhile, 4 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 16 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops cleaned roadsides covering a patch of about 4 km along Uduppiddi -Karanawai road in Point Pedro, Jaffna to control the spread of Dengue while simultaneously removing bushes with pollen that cause respiratory complications.
The programme was in place on the directives of Commander Security Forces-Jaffna Maj. Gen. Priyantha Perera and the residents, Point Pedro Pradeshiya Sabha employees and officials too joined the project, the Army said.
