Joint operation to bring the distressed Ship out of harm's way
May 22, 2021The fire erupted on-board ‘X-PRESS PEARL’, was brought under control to a certain extent by a joint firefighting operation led by the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN), Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) and Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) yesterday (21).
Accordingly, the firefighting operation is still continuing today (22) to further contain the fire on-board.
Reportedly a container ship in anchorage about 9.5 nautical miles northwest of Colombo had alarmed the distress following the fire outburst yesterday.
