Navy brings ashore critically ill fisherman
March 31, 2019Sri Lanka Navy troops rendered assistance to bring ashore a critically ill fisherman on Sunday (31 March). According to Navy media, a Naval Fast Attack (FAC) Craft attached to the Southern Naval Command was sent to the location upon being alerted by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.
The fisherman was among the crew of a multi-day fishing trawler named 'Madushn Putha' which had set sail for fishing from the Galle fishing harbour. The Naval craft had reached the fishing vessel in the seas about 64 nautical miles off the Galle lighthouse. The patient was rushed to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital upon being brought to the Galle harbour.
