Advisory for heavy rain and strong winds
May 25, 2021Under the influence of intensified cyclonic storm “YAAS” located in East-central Bay of Bengal, winds over the island and rainy condition in southwestern part (Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces) are expected to be enhanced from today (25) to May 27, The Met. Department said.
Accordingly, the wind speed can be increased up to (50-60) kmph at times over the island and especially it may increase up to 70 kmph at times in Western slope of the Central hills, North-central and North-western provinces and in Kegalle, Vauniya, Mullaitivu, Mannar, Tricomalee and Hambantota districts.
Wind speed may increase up to 70 kmph at times in the coastal areas of Western province and in Galle and Matara districts, it also said.
