SLCG nabs illegally harvested ‘Shark Fins’
May 31, 2021The fishery monitoring and regulating duties led by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) at the Dikovita Fishery Harbour nabbed two fishing trawlers and 13 fishermen for possessing unlawfully harvested Blue Shark Fins on Friday (29).
According to the SLCG, suspects have harvested 41 Blue Shark Fins illegally.
Apprehended items had been hidden in a compartment as they were found by the Coast Guard personnel.
Suspects with items seized were handed over to the Negambo Fisheries Inspector for onward legal proceedings, SLCG also said.
