Army to rescue victims of earth slips
June 05, 2021Sri Lanka Army rescued a family affected by earth slips and torrential rains at Dewanagala, Mawanella area today (June 5).
8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops recovered a 23-year old young female buried and dead in a mound of earth and took her to the Mawanella Hospital, the Army said.
Troops are continuing the search and rescue missions to find her missing mother (56), father (57) and brother (29) in coordination with the villagers.
Meanwhile, Army also recovered a dead body of a 70-year old male under a mound of earth at Warakapola, Algama.
The remains were sent to the Warakapola Hospital while the other family members were sent to a safe location, the news said.
