'Exercise Mitra Shakthi - VI' to commence tomorrow
March 25, 2019'Exercise Mitra Shakthi - VI' between the Indian Army and the Sri Lanka Army will begin at Diyatalawa 1 Gemunu Watch (GW) camp premises on Tuesday (26 March). According to Army media, the two-week long exercise is designed to further strengthen military relations between the two armies.
The joint exercise will see 120 Army personnel from each country taking part in maneuvers held with the aim to share knowledge on military tactics, experience, exchange of infantry technicalities, counter terrorism practices, long range reconnaissance patrol (LRRP), small group operations, effective employment of infantry weapons, simulated attacks on terrorist hideouts, suicide bombing, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) etc.
The Indian side is led by Colonel Parthasarathy Roy, Colonel Sombit Gosh, Major Pujam Manhas and Major Rohith Kumar Tripathi. General Officer Commanding, 21 Division, Brigadier Kumar Jayapathirana will function as the Exercise Director.
