Post-flood response by military
June 07, 2021Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Navy-deployed flood relief teams continued their work while fulfilling the relief measures of urgent nature to flood affected communities today (June 7).
Further, sailors along with the Irrigation Department staffers commenced the clearing of clogged Wakwella Bridge to mitigate the likely flood-risk for low-lying areas yesterday.
The Navy said they have deployed 32 relief teams for flood relief operations in the Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle and Ratnapura districts.
The damaged Ja-Ela Danduganga Oya embankment was reinforced while dumping sandbags by the Tri-Forces to mitigate the likely hazards.
Tri-Forces personnel are relentlessly engaged in providing relief measures to the flood-affected folks according to the directives given by the Defence Ministry.
