650-bed ICC opens in Werellawatta, Gampaha
June 08, 2021Sri Lanka Navy-assembled COVID-19 Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) facilitated with 650 beds in Werellawatta, Gampaha was inaugurated yesterday (June 7).
The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) accomplished the first phase of the project by converting a closed factory into an ICC in a bid to strengthen the Government-run initiative to facilitate the treatments for COVID-19 infected folks.
Following a request made by the Health Ministry, the SLN employed its manpower for the initial phase and inaugurated the facility under the patronage of Health Minister Hon. Pavithra Wanniarachchi, the SLN said.
The Navy is continuously working to expand the facility up to 2,000 beds in near future.
