Navy nabs Rs.39 mn worth of Cannabis
June 18, 2021Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) nabbed 130 kilos and 760 grams of Cannabis along with two suspects and a dinghy in Karampan in Kayts yesterday (June 17).
The SLN’s Northern Command during a special raid carried out in the Karampan sea area seized the suspicious dinghy transporting four sacks of Kerala cannabis.
The street value of the seized haul of cannabis is believed to be over Rs. 39 million, the SLN said.
According to the Navy sources, the suspects held during this operation were residents of Pesalai and Kayts, aged 26 and 31.
The suspects with the haul of cannabis and the dinghy were handed over to the Kayts Police for onward legal proceedings and the entire raid was conducted adhering to the healthcare guidelines. the SLN added.
