SLN ships and JMSDF conducts passage exercise
June 21, 2021Two Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) training ships, arrived in Sri Lanka on a three-day visit, conducted a passage exercise (PASSEX) with Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) recently.
Accordingly, JMSDF ships ‘KASHIMA’ and ‘SETOYUKI’ conducted the PASSEX with the Sri Lanka Naval Ship ‘SAGARA’ off the port of Colombo, the SLN said.
The exercise also comprised ship formations, manoeuvres, communication exercises and other naval exercises.
Naval exercises of this nature will lead to enhance the mutual cooperation between the two navies as it also opens an avenue to gain new knowledge on maritime operations, exchange strategies and experience, identify new challenges and find collective solutions, the SLN said.
While visiting ships were departing yesterday (June 20), they bade farewell in compliance with naval traditions.
The exercise was performed adhering to the stipulated healthcare guidelines, the SLN also confirmed.
