Army troops nab illegal sand-mining racket
July 05, 2021Sri Lanka Army troops with the Police apprehended 18 civilians engaged in illegal sand-mining in the Sittaru in Trincomalee recently.
The Army said the troops of 4 Special Forces in the 22 Division in collaboration with the Drone team of the 15 Sri Lanka Artillery arrested the civilians along with three dump trucks and four dinghies.
The suspects and the equipment were handed over to the Police, the Army also added.
