Army troops nab Rs 4 mn worth turmeric in Mannar
July 11, 2021Sri Lanka Army troops recovered 672 kilos of smuggled turmeric worth approximately Rs. 4 million from Periyakadei the coastal area in Mannar recently.
The Intelligence sources of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni with the Quick Reaction Team of 7 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment conducted the operation.
The Army stated that the turmeric haul had been brought to Periyakadai area in three boats and the haul was about to be transported in a light lorry.
The vehicle, three boats and two boat engines were nabbed and handed over to the Mannar Police for further investigations, the Army further said.
