Army planted over 700 coconut saplings in Jaffna
July 11, 2021Sri Lanka Army’s Security Force Headquarters in Jaffna planted over 700 coconut saplings at the religious places, state compounds, Army camps, barren and private lands in the Jaffna Peninsula yesterday (July 10).
Event held with the blessings of clergy, launched by the Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna was broached for the benefit of the future generation, the Army said.
State Minister of Coconuts, Kithul, Palmyrah and Rubber Cultivation Promotion and Related Industrial Product Manufacturing and Export Diversification Hon. Arundika Fernando had provided the coconut saplings, the Army also added.
Clergies, senior military officers, state officials and troops attended the project under strict health guidelines.
