Army smashed Cannabis cultivation
July 12, 2021Sri Lanka Army troops of 18 Gemunu Watch under the Security Forces - Central raided cannabis cultivation in Kebiliththa, Monaragala recently and destroyed the cultivation.
Troops unearthed all the illicit plants grown covertly in an almost one acre of land within the jungle and destroyed them along with dried cannabis of about 200 kilos, the Army said.
Meanwhile, Intelligence Corps troops in the 51 Division and 17 Gemunu Watch troops of the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna in a joint operation with the Police have apprehended a civilian carrying about 6.5 kilos of Kerala cannabis at Allaipiddy, Kayts recently.
The army sources confirmed that the suspect with cannabis was taken to the Kayts Police for further investigations.
