International training assistance for SLCG
July 21, 2021Sixteen Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) personnel successfully completed the Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) course conducted by the Global Maritime Crime Programme (GMCP) of United Nation Office of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Advanced Training Centre (ATC) at Mirissa, recently.
According to the SLCG sources, the VBSS was the initial course conducted in such nature and has been considered as a pilot programme in acquiring advanced training capabilities in collaboration with the international donor agencies at ATC Mirissa.
The SLCG said the course participants have gained a wide theoretical and practical knowledge during the itinerary.
Senior SLCG officials, distinguished personalities from donor agencies, and diplomatic representatives were also present at the culmination of the event, the SLCG added.
