SLCG nabs illegally harvested ‘Shark Fins’
August 02, 2021Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) at the Trincomalee Fishery Harbour nabbed a Multi Day Fishing Vessel and six fishermen for possessing unlawfully harvested Shark Fins and dried Shark flesh recently.
According to the SLCG, suspects have illegally harvested 13 dried Shark fins and approx. 33 kilos of dried Shark flesh.
They had been concealed in the fishing gears as they were found by the Coast Guard personnel.
Suspects with items seized were handed over to the Additional Director, Fisheries, Trincomalee for onward legal proceedings, SLCG also said.
