SLN nabs over 109 kilos of cannabis in Jaffna
August 02, 2021Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) during a special raid nabbed 109 kilos and 150 grams of Kerala cannabis worth of Rs. 32 million along with two suspects and a dinghy in seas off from Thondamanaru to Mamunei area, Jaffna yesterday.
The operation was carried out by the Inshore Patrol Craft P 177 and P 015 attached to the Northern Naval Command in northern waters, the SLN said.
Suspects aged 26 and 28 were identified as residents of Point Pedro.
The apprehended suspects together with the stock of Kerala cannabis and the dinghy were handed over to the Point Pedro Police for onward legal action, the SLN also said.
The operation which conforms to the guidelines issued by the Defence Ministry was carried out adhering to the healthcare procedures, the news also confirmed.
