SLN nabs about 820 kilos of sea cucumber in Kalpitiya
August 05, 2021Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) during a special raid nabbed 820 kilos of sea cucumber worth of Rs. 16 million, along with seven suspects and two dinghies in the beach area of Keerimundalama, Kalpitiya, yesterday (Aug 4).
Moreover, the SLN also held three more suspects who remained at the beach with a lorry to transport the stock, the SLN said.
Suspects aged 26 and 44, identified as residents of Kalpitiya along with the stock of sea cucumber, dinghies and the lorry, were handed over to Katunayake Customs Preventive Office for onward legal action, the SLN also said.
The operation, which conforms to the guidelines issued by the Defence Ministry was carried out adhering to the healthcare procedures, the news also confirmed.
