Sandahiru Stupa ‘Crest-Gem’ and ‘Sacred Pinnacle’ now at Bellanwila Temple for public veneration
August 08, 2021The procession of the Crest-Gem and the Sacred Pinnacle of Sandahiru Stupa which commenced the street parading in Colombo arrived at the Bellanwila Raja Maha Viharaya today evening (Aug 08).
On arrival, Ven. Dr. Bellanwila Dhammaratana Nayaka thero, the Chief Incumbent of Bellanwila Raja Maha Viharaya received the Crest-Gem and the Sacred Pinnacle and subsequently delivered a religious sermon.
Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) and Air Force Commander Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana who were present at the venue paid homage to the sacred articles and offered floral tribute during the occasion.
Addressing the media, the Defence Secretary reiterated that the exposition of the sacred articles would be in place under strict compliance to the stipulated healthcare guidelines issued.
The Crest-Gem and the Sacred Pinnacle will be placed for public veneration tomorrow (Aug 09) at Bellanwila Raja Maha Viharaya.
Ven. Maha Sanga, temple’s Dayaka Sabhawa, Senior military officers and devotees were present at the occasion.
