Army launches mobile vaccination drive

Making a leap forward in the national vaccination drive, Sri Lanka Army (SLA) inaugurated a Western Province-based mobile vaccination program today (12) for elderly, sick, handicapped and feeble sections in the society with various needs who weren’t been vaccinated in the Province.
According to the SLA, ten Mobile Vaccination vehicles and an ambulance have been allocated for the task and they will administer the vaccine against COVID-19 while visiting respective applicants.
Those expecting the service need to register themselves with the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) through Hotline number 1906 or 0112860002, the SLA said.
This is a combine project of Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps, Directorate of Preventive Medicine and Mental Health, Directorate of Supply and Transport, Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police and the NOCPCO, the Sri Lanka Army said.
The vehicles with the medical staff and data entry facility will be located in Dematagoda area (1 vehicle), Colombo 15, Modara area (3 vehicles), Gangarama Mawatha and Mattakkuliya area (1 vehicle), Colombo 14 - Grandpass area (3 vehicles), Colombo 15, Bloemendhal Road area (2 vehicles) and be subsequently deployed where necessary in consultation with the NOCPCO, based on information, the SLA also said.
The standby ambulance with a medical officer will monitor the process closely throughout its operations.
The project was launched following the directives of Gen. Shavendra Silva, the Head of the NOCPCO, Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander.
