Navy built High Dependency Unit at Wathupitiwala Base Hospital
August 16, 2021Strengthening the government's initiative of expanding infrastructure facilities, Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) built a High Dependency Unit (HDU) at Wathupitiwala Base Hospital and vested it in today (Aug 16) for treatment of COVID-19 patients.
The new HDU encompasses dedicated equipment for the treatment of COVID-19 patients and has 20 HDU beds to provide intensive care for COVID-19 cases, the SLN said.
The SLN, utilizing its skilled labour along with engineering excellence and funds from donors, completed the project under the directives of Navy Commander Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.
Deputy Area Commander of the Western Naval Area, Commodore Suresh De Silva, Health officials and naval personnel were present at the occasion while conforming to healthcare guidelines.
