Army sets up new ICC at Bindunuwewa for COVID-19 patients
August 18, 2021The Bindunuwewa Youth Centre in Bandarawela was recently improvised as an Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) and vested in health authorities by the Commander, Security Forces -Central Maj. Gen. Vikum Liyanage recently.
Sri Lanka Army (SLA) converted the Youth Centre to accommodate 311 patients in the event of any emergency.
Necessary beds, mattresses and pillows were also provided by the SLA under the instructions of Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak, Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander, Gen. Shavendra Silva, the SLA said.
The troops of the Security Forces-Central attended the ICC conversion project, the SLA added.
