Army expands mobile vaccination drive

Sri Lanka Army's (SLA) mobile vaccination drive commenced from Jaffna a few days ago has received high praise from the jab recipients.
According to the Army sources, mobile vaccination processes were underway in Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Nuwara Eliya, Matale, Kandy, Badulla, Monaragala and Hambantota MOH areas apart from the programme led in the Colombo suburbs.
Referring to the Jaffna based vaccination drive, Dr. Umasugi Nadarajah, an Australia-based health professional currently in Jaffna, has gone on record commenting on the on-going Army mobile vaccination project in the peninsula while extending his deep appreciation.
This programme will also help in preventing the infection rate as there won't be people standing in queues, the SLA said.
The mobile vaccination drive expects to cover a large number in the Jaffna Peninsula in close collaboration with MOH offices, PHIs, Grama Niladhari and regional state agencies, the SLA also said.
Meanwhile, Mullaitivu troops were also seen engaging in mobile vaccination drive. Accordingly, Medical troops based in Mullaithivu carried out mobile vaccination for elderly people above 60 years of age and sick, handicapped and feeble ones, the Army said.
Further, medical troops of Army Base Hospital Diyatalawa conducted mobile vaccination programmes for sick, handicapped, feeble and elderly people above 60 years of age on Monday (Aug 23) covering Nuwara Eliya, Matale, Kandy, Badulla, Monaragala and Hambantota MOH areas.
The SLA medical troops conducted the vaccination project, arriving at their door steps, following proper registration process, in coordination with relevant state agencies, the news also added.
