Army constructs house for widowed family
August 30, 2021Sri Lanka Army (SLA) continuing its social welfare oriented work vested a newly constructed house to a needy family in Matale recently.
Troops of 1 Sri Lanka Rifle Corps (SLRC) volunteered to build this house for a widowed mother, following the District Secretariat’s initiative to help the troops for the construction with necessary funds.
Through the offices of the National Child Protection Authority, Presidential Secretariat and the District/Divisional Secretariats, troops with state officials were able to raise funds for raw material needed for the noble cause, the Army said.
Matale District Secretariat allocated a 10 perch state land for this purpose following submissions forwarded by troops involved in the project, the SLA added.
Commander 111 Brigade Brig. Rajitha Rathnayake handed over the house to the needy family during a brief event.
