Army established first ICC at Vipassana Meditation Centre for Buddhist monks
August 31, 2021Sri Lanka Army troops established the first Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) at the International Vipassana Meditation Centre in Colombo for treatment of COVID-19 affected Buddhist monks and vested in the Maha Sangha yesterday (Aug 30).
According to the Army sources, the ICC with all medical equipment, medicine store, all amenities and a separate HDU could accommodate 84 affected monks in 45 rooms for treatment.
Troops of the Security Forces-West and the 14 Division with the support of logistic wings have completed the project.
Incumbent at International Vipassana Meditation Centre, Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 7 and Head of Weuda Dodantalawa Dhammagiri Monastery Ven. Ududummbara Kashyapa thero delivered a religious oration during the brief ceremony attended by Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander along with a few senior officers and Coordinating Director ‘Jayamaga Pilisarana’ Project.
The occasion was held while adhering to the stipulated health guidelines.
