SLAF distributes more HHOT units to treat COVID-19 patients
September 01, 2021Continuing the manufacturing of social healthcare oriented apparatuses, Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) handed over two more Heated Humidified Oxygen Therapy Units (HHOT) to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital and National Institute of Infectious Diseases, Angoda yesterday (Aug 31).
Accordingly, Air Force Commander Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana handed over these units to Consultant Gastro-Intestinal Surgeon at Karapitiya Teaching Hospital Dr. Harsha Gamage and Deputy Director of National Institute of Infectious Diseases Dr. Chintha Sooriyaarachchi.
According to Dr. Gamage and Dr. Sooriyaarachchi, these units will be used to treat the patients contracted with COVID-19 in respective hospitals.
Katunayake General Engineering Wing together with Electronics and Telecommunications Wing at Ratmalana manufactured the HHOT units, the SLAF sources said.
Director Health Services of SLAF Air Vice Marshal (Dr.) Lalith Jayaweera and Acting Director General Engineering Air Commodore Prasanna Ranasinghe were also present at the event held adhering to the COVID-19 preventive healthcare guidelines.
