SLN nabs a haul of over 72,000 sea cucumbers in Irukkulampiddi
September 13, 2021The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) nabbed 72,542 illegally transported sea cucumbers during a special operation conducted in Irukkulampiddi, yesterday (Sep 12).
The Sri Lanka Navy Ship Gajaba attached to the North Central Naval Command involving in the raid also nabbed two suspects with a light vehicle, the SLN said.
The accused aged 20 and 46 held during the operation were identified as residents of Chawakachcheri and Mannar.
The suspects along with the stock of sea cucumber and the vehicle were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries, Mannar for onward legal action, the SLN confirmed.
