SLCG enhances water safety knowledge of armed forces members
September 20, 2021Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) in view of improving water safety knowledge and drowning accident response skills among the members of armed forces, conducted a Basic level Life Saving Training course for Sri Lanka Army (SLA) and Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) personnel at Life Saving Training School, Balapitaya recently.
Five SLA and ten SLAF personnel successfully reached the qualifying requirements to serve as basic level life savers, the SLCG said.
SLCG sources also stated that the life savers would be an added advantage for the respective forces to expand the role of responsibility of qualified personnel in times of demand and disseminate water safety knowledge amongst others.
The course was conducted while adhering to the COVID-19 health guidelines, the SLCG confirmed.
