Army conducts Disaster Response Training
September 24, 2021The Sri Lanka Army Centre for Disaster Response Training (SLACDRT) in coordination with Disaster Management Centre (DMC) conducted the ‘International Search and Advisory Group’ (INSARAG) Training of Trainers Course recently in Gampola.
A brief closing ceremony was held using the zoom platform and 40 personnel from the tri-forces, Police/STF and Fire Brigade received certificates on completion of the course conducted from September 13 to 17, the Army sources said.
The course was underway with a view of enhancing and sharing the knowledge of instructors/other officials who were directly involved in disaster relief.
DMC Director General Maj. Gen. Sudantha Ranasinghe (Rtd), National Programme Officer - WHO in Sri Lanka Dr Sapumal Danapala and INSARAG Secretariat Asia and Pacific Region Haruka Esaki shared their views during the session through zoom technology, the Army stated.
The Army sources also confirmed that Commandant SLACDRT, DMC officials, Staff Officers and Instructors at SLACDRT were present at the occasion while adhering to COVID-19 health guidelines.
