SRIMED Contingent in South Sudan awarded Medals
October 02, 2021Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troops serving the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) were awarded medals in a brief event organized at South Sudan-based hospital premises recently.
The occasion was graced by UNMISS Deputy Force Commander, Maj. Gen. Main Ullah Chowdhury as the Chief Guest and staff members at the Force Headquarters (HQ) in the Sector East HQ, SLA sources stated.
The Contingent Commander of the SRIMED Level 2 hospital Col. DRSA Jayamanna received the Deputy Force Commander.
The occasion was also coloured by a drill display and a cultural show which were performed by SRIMED level 2 hospital members, the SLA also said.
The Head of Field Office Isidore Boutchue, Deputy Sector Commander Col. Happy Ruvusha and Field Administrative Office Representative Efram Araya also joined the occasion.
The SRIMED contingent in South Sudan consisting of 66 troops at present after completion of its tenure is set to return home, the SLA confirmed.
