Japanese navy ships arrive in Colombo
October 02, 2021Three destroyers of the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) arrived in the country today (Oct 02). According to Navy media, the trio of ships named KAGA, MURASAME and FUYUZUKI had arrived at the port of Colombo making an official visit.
The Sri Lanka Navy had accorded a traditional welcome to the visiting ships in accordance with naval customs.
Navy media states that FUYUZUKI, a 151m long ship with a crew of 220 had arrived in Colombo on a replenishment visit and will leave tomorrow (Oct 03).
The 248m KAGA manned by a crew of 210 and MURASAME, a 151m long ship with a crew of 200 naval personnel had arrived in Colombo from Australia and are scheduled to take part in the joint naval exercise ‘JA- LAN EX’ with the Sri Lanka Navy, it further states.
Both ships are scheduled to leave the island on the 04th (Oct).
