Navy commences planting mangrove in Jaffna Peninsula
October 05, 2021The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) planted mangrove saplings in Kilali Lagoon recently while aiming to conserve mangrove and prevent coastal erosion in the lagoons of the Jaffna Peninsula.
Signifying the initiative of planting 5000 mangrove saplings in Jaffna Peninsula, the SLN troops carried out the project under the directions of Northern Naval Area Commander, Rear Admiral Priyantha Perera, the SLN said.
Commanding Officer of Naval Deployment Veththalakerni and a group of naval personnel were present at the occasion which was held adhering to healthcare guidelines issued to contain COVID-19.
