Air Force presents medical equipment to treat COVID-19 patients
October 07, 2021The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) had presented two Heated Humidified Oxygen Therapy Units to health authorities, to be used in government hospitals on Wednesday (Oct 06), reports SLAF media.
Produced by the Air Force with its own technology and expertise these Heated Humidified Oxygen Therapy (HHOT) Units had been presented to be used at the Kandy National Hospital and Tellippalai Base Hospital in Jaffna, it further states.
HHOT units are used in the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
Air Force Commander Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana presented the two medical equipment to Dr. Prasad Gunasinghe, Medical Officer in Charge of the Planning Unit, National Hospital, Kandy and Dr. Rajiv Nirmalasingam, Consultant Surgeon, Tellippalai Base Hospital, Jaffna during a ceremony at the Air Force Headquarters in Colombo.
In May (2021), the Air Force had presented its own produced HHOT unit to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
These HHOT units have been subjected to stringent quality checks in order to ensure safety standards.
