Army to renovate more irrigation tanks
October 09, 2021Sri Lanka Army troops have recently started tank renovation projects in Mahaweli “L” region under the “Vari Saubhagya” programme of the government.
Troops of 11 Field Sri Lanka Engineers under the supervision of the Plant Engineer Brigade renovate the tanks with Mahaweli Authority funds, the Army said.
Accordingly, a total of 10 tank projects have been undertaken by the Sri Lanka Engineers and General Officer Commanding and Plant Engineer Brigade closely supervise the renovation projects.
Sri Lanka Engineer troops with the Mahaweli Authority have commenced desilting work in tank beds and the projects will benefit more than 800 farmers covering more than 700 acres, the Army confirmed.
