President reviews Sandahiru Seya project

His Excellency the President Gotabaya Rajapaksa reviewed the progress of Sandahiru Seya construction and scheduled work while arriving at the Stupa premises in Anuradhapura today (Oct 09).

Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) and project officials briefed the President about several areas under construction including Bo-Tree House (Bodhigaraya), Dolos Mahe Pahana (the lamp which lights throughout the 12 months of the year), land area earmarked for devotees’ vehicle park, landscaping arrangement at the entryway, the balance work of shrine hall and the proposed museum.

All the work at the location is being attended in keeping with the stipulated healthcare guidelines to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Plans are afoot to place the ‘Crest-Gem’ and the ‘Sacred Pinnacle’ at the pointing tip of the Stupa, following the culmination of exposition for public veneration, during the month of November, this year.
