SLN sets up 874th RO Plant to facilitate rural community
October 10, 2021Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) continuing its community welfare-oriented services vested another Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant, for water-stressed residents in Rajavigama, Karuwalagaswewa yesterday (Oct 09).
Navy Commander Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne accompanied by Chairperson of SLN’s Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) Chandima Ulugetenne declared open the newly installed RO plant during a brief ceremony held at the Rajavigama Siri Sambuddha Galapitagala Temple.
Partnering the national program mooted to prevent the chronic kidney disease in several parts of the country, the SLN in association with the Health Ministry has established 874 RO plants around the country while providing its technical expertise and labour.
Rajavigama RO plant was established under the sponsorship of SLN’s SVU, the SLN sources said.
Not only the village residents and the regional community, but also the devotees arriving at the temple will also be benefitted immensely being able to get rid of their thirst whilst drinking safe water in place of this noble cause, the SLN added.
Ven. Maha Sangha including Deputy Chief Sanghanayake of the North Central Province, Deputy Registrar of the Madyama Nuwaragam Palathe Sasanarakshaka Mandalaya and Chief Incumbent of Siri Sambuddha Galapitagala Temple, Ven. Panvila Gunarathana Nayaka Thero, North-Western Naval Area Commander Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularathne, senior officers and residents were also present at the occasion held adhering to healthcare guidelines.
