SLN sets up another RO Plant in Mahawa
October 11, 2021Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) extending Naval Social Responsibility initiative vested another Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant yesterday (Oct 10) for the residents in Bakmeegahawatta, Mahawa.
The newly installed facility marks the 875th RO plant and was declared open by the Navy Commander Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne accompanied by the SLN Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) Chairperson Chandima Ulugetenne, the SLN said.
The SLN sources said the SLN’s SVU coordinated the project which was initiated by the Health Ministry with the sponsorship of Mr. Dhananjaya Bandara of DB Ceylon while utilizing the SLN’s industrial expertise and labour.
Accordingly, 975 families in 03 Grama Niladhari Divisions in Bakmeegahawatta get access to safe drinking water, the SLN added.
The occasion organized in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines was also attended by the sponsor of the project, senior SLN officers and residents.
