Dr. Subramanian Swamy MP guest speaker at INSS Security Salon
October 14, 2021Eminent scholar and Member of Parliament, India Dr. Subramanian Swamy was the guest speaker at the Security Salon organized by the Institute of National Security Studies (INSS) last evening (Oct 13).
Dr. Swamy shared his views on “National Security in the 21st Century” with the distinguished audience consisting of service chiefs, defence officials and members of the diplomatic corps during his speech.
Dr. Swamy highlighted how national security in the 21st century has transformed in all four dimensions i.e. Objectives, Priorities, Strategy and Resource Mobilization. These changes, he argues, are entirely due to the innovations in electronic and cyber technology such as drones, robots, satellites and computers.
Warfare is no more just mobilization of weapons and dependent on the size of armed forces but is in the online domain, use of drones and in Artificial Intelligence, said Dr. Swamy.
The Security Salon chaired by the Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) was held at the Nandimithra Auditorium of the Ministry.
While presenting a memento, Defence Secretary Gen. Gunaratne (Retd) also handed over two books authored by him, “Road to Nandhikadal” and “Gotabaya” to Dr. Swamy during the occasion.
The session was moderated by Prof. Rohan Gunaratna, Director General of the INSS.
