Critically ill local fisherman brought ashore for treatment
August 08, 2019A local fisherman who was in a critical condition due to a cobra bite at the Iranathivu island was brought ashore for treatment by Navy troops on Tuesday (06). According to Navy media, naval personnel at the Iranathivu detachment has observed the fisherman in distress and had informed higher authorities.
In response, an Inshore Patrol Craft with a medical personnel onboard had been rushed to the location by the North Central Naval Command. The patient, aged 64 years and a resident of Iranamatha area was provided with basic first aid and was quickly rushed ashore. He was later sent to the Mulankavil hospital for further treatment. The fisherman was able to receive medical care due to the timely action of the naval troops.
