Army-processed carbonic fertilizer handed over to 'Lak Pohora'
October 27, 2021Sri Lanka Army-produced 86,961 kilos of carbonic fertilizer for this year's Maha season was handed over to the Ceylon Fertilizer Company Limited yesterday (Oct 26).
The Army troops of SFHQ-East based in Welikanda produced a stock of fertilizer in a bid to strengthen the government's organic fertilizer production drive.
Commander, Security Forces - East Maj. Gen. Channa Weerasooriya symbolically handed over the fertilizer stock to the General Manager of the Ceylon Fertilizer Company Limited (Lak Pohora) R. A. P. Perera at the SFHQ-East, Welikanda, the Army sources said.
The SLA further said troops with their agricultural expertise contributed in the production process with the participation of agriculturally qualified officers and other ranks.
Senior Army Officers, Regional Managers based in the Eastern Province and Polonnaruwa District of Ceylon Fertilizer Company Limited were also present at the occasion held under health guidelines, the news added.
