Coast Guard trains Navy Marines on RHIB handling
November 02, 2021A Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) handling training programme for Sri Lanka Navy Marines was conducted by the Advanced Training Center (ATC) of the Sri Lanka Coast (SLCG) recently.
According to Coast Guard media, the training program was conducted at the Coast Guard’s Advanced Training Center in Mirissa, last week (Oct 25 to 29).
The training program had been designed to improve essential skills of RHIB handling in different weather conditions, surf navigation, launch of RHIB and handling technology in various sea conditions, techniques of search and locating victims at sea, handling of patients at sea, providing first aid, communications with the coast, safe transporting of patients to shore and maritime search and rescue, it says.
A group of ten Navy Marines had successfully completed the training programme which had also been a good platform to the SLCG to share its competencies and capacities with the Navy Marines, it further says.
The Certificate Awarding Ceremony was held at the Coast Guard ATC in Mirissa with the participation of Director Training, Captain (G) JGDAK Jayaweera and other SLCG officers.
