UNODC-sponsored VBSS Instructor Course begins at Mirissa
November 03, 2021Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) commenced a Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) Instructor Course for Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) and SLCG personnel recently at Weligambay Villas Resort, Mirissa.
Two officers each from SLN's Special Boat Squadron and SLCG have joined the training program in order to qualify as competent VBSS Training Instructors to upgrade themselves as regional VBSS instructors, the SLCG sources said.
The Global Maritime Crime programme (GMCP) of the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC) sponsored the programme, the SLCG added.
Director Training, Captain (G) JGDAK Jayaweera presided over the inaugural ceremony attended by instructors and officers.
