Sandahiru Stupa opening scheduled on Nov 18 – Defence Secretary

Sandahiru Seya will be vested on Venerable Maha Sanga while opening the sacred site for devotees on November 18, 2021, said the Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) today (Nov 07).

“Accordingly, the ‘Crest Gem’ will be placed at the tip of the Stupa pinnacle tomorrow (Nov 08)” he went on saying.

Arriving at the Sandahiru Seya construction site in Anuradhapura today to view the progress of scheduled work, he said “Families of the deceased veteran war heroes and differently able brave men will also arrive at the Stupa premises on the opening day ceremony to witness the blessed noble event.

Responding to the media during the session, he said Ven. Maha Sanga and a number of distinguished invitees will arrive at the ‘Crest Gem’ unveiling ceremony on Nov 18 which will be graced by His Excellency the President and Hon Prime Minister.

The Defence Secretary while inspecting the balance work of the Stupa which is nearing completion, necessary directives were also given to the respective construction parties involved.
