Army assists to uplift livelihood of backward community in Mullaithivu
November 17, 2021Sri Lanka Army troops in a bid to uplift the living standards of the people in the region recently released 75,000 fingerlings to the Pilamanthallaru tank in Mullaittivu, the Army media reports.
This was carried out by troops of 572 Brigade of the 57 Division in Mullaithivu under the second phase of the same project which aims at providing an income generating and source of food for the local community.
The social welfare project carried out under the blessings of Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu Major General Sanjaya Wanasingha, will benefit more than twenty-five fishing families in the locality of Pilamanthallaru, it says.
The project was carried out in co-operation with the National Aquaculture Development Authority (NAQDA) Mullaittivu branch, it further says.
