Soldiers donate blood to Batticaloa Hospital
November 25, 2021Sri Lanka Army personnel in the East volunteered to donate much needed blood to the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital at a blood donation campaign held recently.
Responding to requests from health authorities at the hospital, more than 95 soldiers of 231 Brigade under the 23 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - East had volunteered to donate blood to replenish stocks at the hospital’s blood bank, reports Army media sources.
The programme was carried out by a team of medical officers and nurses from the hospital, it further says.
Meanwhile, a group of soldiers joined hands with school authorities, students and parents for a Sharamadana campaign to clean the Murunkan Maha Vidyalaya school premises and its surroundings recently.
Army media sources state, soldiers under 542 Brigade of the 54 Division involved in this Shramadana programme as preventive measure to contain the spread of dengue and such diseases.
